This summer started out being very dry. The past few weeks have seen a major turnaround, with more rain than normal. Thankfully the recent floods didn't cause much concern for us. The moisture is welcome for our maple trees. The foliage is lucious. There will be good growth this year. That leads to good tree health and hopefully a good maple sap harvest next spring!
I took a walk in the woods recently and saw that wildlife is also abundant. Squirrels and chipmunks have been doing more than usual damage to our tubing system. That means that I need to get into the woods to do some repairs and rebuilding of the sap gathering pipeline. As frustrating as that is; it's a reality of working in the wild. We share the forest with all of its creatures!
Until next time...have a good summer!
